| Wallpaper is printed paper or vinyl sheet with a plain or decorated surface, textured or embossed, used as a wall covering. A sealer or lining paper may be need on new plaster to prevent the discolouring of wallpaper. A roll (or piece) of wallpaper in Britain is 530mm wide and 10m long, in France 460mm by 8.20m, and in the USA 18in by 24ft. The rolls are butt jointed side by side so that the pattern matches. An old wallpaper can be over painted if still firmly stuck to the wall. Some wallpapers are made to be peelable, others are removed using a steam stripper. |
